We are excited to announce that we are holding our 8th annual CES Read-a-thon to celebrate reading and support a passion for reading in our students! All proceeds will go to field trip scholarships and teaching resources, such as book sets, Time for Kids and Scholastic magazines, as well as to help fund family events, such as Literacy Night and Family Fun Night.
Read-a-thon Facts:
- The Read-a-thon will continue through Friday, February 18th.
- Sponsors should pledge a flat amount. Checks may be made out to Central Elementary School.
- Students earn prizes based on the amount of money collected. Students will also have the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire. Every $10 in sponsorships will earn an entry into the drawing.
- Each classroom will be setting aside more time for independent reading through DEAR (Drop Everything And Read).
- Classes each have a goal of reading 2500 minutes outside of school for grades K-2 and 4000 minutes outside of school for grades 3-5.
- The last day of the Read-a-thon will end in a “Reading Day” on Friday, February 18th. Students will be allowed to wear pajamas and will participate in fun reading activities all day long!
