ISD 108 Adopts New Quarantine Guidelines for Students Effective 1/26/22

Since the beginning of the year, students who have tested positive or who have been a close
contact of a family member have needed to be quarantined for 10 days.   Recently, the CDC has changed their guidance and Central Public Schools is adopting it.  Here are the details:

1. Persons who test positive for COVID-19 need to quarantine for 5 days. If symptoms are
improving or if the student is asymptomatic after this period, students can return to school.
For days 6-10 students must wear a well fitting mask (provided by the family) while at
school/school sponsored activities. If the student is unable or unwilling to wear a mask for
these 5 days, the quarantine period will be the full 10 days.

2. Persons who are a “close contact” of a family member and are unvaccinated need to
quarantine for 5 days. After day 5 if the student provides the school with a negative
COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) they are able to return to school. Central has a stock of
antigen tests for families on a first come basis. For days 6-10 students must wear a well
fitting mask (provided by the family) while at school/school sponsored activities. If the
student is unable or unwilling to wear a mask for these 5 days, the quarantine period will
be the full 10 days.

3. Persons who are fully vaccinated or who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90
days do not need to quarantine if they are a “close contact” unless they are exhibiting
symptoms.

4. Students who participate in activities can return to practice on day 6, but will not be able to return to games until after day 10 per the MN State High School League.

5. We have created a convenient calendar for everyone so the school and parents can be on the same page about return dates.

If you have any questions about these new guidelines, please contact your school principal or
program director.
