FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
FFA is an organization that revolves around agriculture and its related industries, leadership, and community service. Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join and get involved. There are FFA contests students can be a part of, called Career Development Events, because they help students build and apply many valuable skills. These contests include traditional events, like dairy cattle judging, poultry, and ag mechanics as well as less-traditional events that show the variety of modern agriculture. These events include floriculture, small animals, and wildlife. Students are also encouraged to take part in community service projects, like adopt-a-highway and the corn drive. In a typical year, around $3000-$4000 is raised for charity through the corn drive event. Also, in most years, a contingent of students attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. While there, they are among 60,000+ students who are exploring ag careers, taking part in tours, listening to speakers, fulfilling projects, and more. Overall, today's FFA has something to offer to all students!
